Hi, I'm Alaina, the first-born daughter of Portuguese immigrants (IYKYK), who grew up running around in the woods of suburban Massachusetts, pretending the tall power lines were skyscrapers and performing made-up songs and dances for the squirrels.

 

These days, I live in Brooklyn with my own little family, watching my toddler run around the city streets and playgrounds, doing the exact same things as I did, creating and imagining, and wondering if this is learned behavior or something innate within the both of us.

Whatever the case, I'm here, hoping to show my daughter that dreams are worth fighting for.
